Lama Shenpen Hookham

lamashenpenMy current principal teacher is Lama Shenpen Hookham of the Awakened Heart Sangha. Lama Shenpen has over 50 years experience of Dzogchen/Mahamudra teachings within the Nyingma/Kagyu schools of Tibetan Buddhism. She teaches the Living the Awakened Heart Training, a home study/practice course, devised especially for Westerners to teach the profound Mahamudra/Dzogchen in an accessible, experiential way.

John Garrie Roshi

John Garrie Roshi who I studied with from 1988 until his death. He founded the Sati Society, Sati tbeing he mindfulness practice he taught, inspired by the Theravadan Buddhist Satipatthana teachings. He was influenced by a wide range of traditions including Zen, Tibetan Buddism, Taoism and Martial Arts.

Sonia Moriceau Sensei

Sonia Moriceau Sensei who I came to Britain to study Shiatsu with. She was also a student of John Garrie Roshi who gave her permission to teach in her own right the ‘Way of Mindfulness’. In 1980 she met Master Ohashi and began Shiatsu training. After graduating from the Ohashi Institute, she began integrating Mindfulness Meditation and Shiatsu and in 1982 founded the Healing-Shiatsu Education Centre, which offered professional training, the first of its kind in the UK.
