Shiatsu is given on a comfortable futon on the floor.

A person is fully dressed in loose clothing, made from natural fibres if possible.

It is advisable not to eat a large meal, or drink alcohol just before the session.

Also, a hot, long bath on the day of the session should be avoided.

After the session, some simple exercises may be shown, to do at home.

A person should then rest for a couple of hours, or at least not engage in a strenuous or stressful activity.

An introductory session lasts for up to 1 and a half hours and starts with a consultation.

A standard Shiatsu session normally lasts 50 – 60 minutes, including a brief resting and feedback time at the end.

I recommend an initial course of 6 sessions, with a week or two between each.

After this initial, more intensive period many clients choose to come once a month or so, to maintain achieved balance and ease.

I have several clients, who after many years of working with me, now come only four times a year at the change of seasons (March, June, September and December).
